Memorial Weekend

Since Ryan has to work on Mondays and is it supposed to rain all weekend, the girls and I decided to go to my mom's house to hang out. Ryan took his 4wheeler up to Elk City to go riding with some friends and is probably going to he either soaking wet or really mudding when he comes home. My mom and I decided to finish up my sister's baby shower invitations and a couple other things for the shower. I would have put pictures of what we did in my slide show but what we are doing is a surprise to her. I will put pictures on my blog after her shower in June. I decided I wanted the girls to make something to put on my dad's grave so I let them paint a terra cotta pot and I put some fake flowers in them. They loved it! They have been wanting to paint everything since they did it. I have been able to get a couple pages done so I'm not so behind at the fall retreat. I even did one by candle light last night because the electricity went off for about an hour and a half last night. Let me tell you, I don't know how the old timers did anything without electricity. It must have been a different world back then and the people were definately alot stronger and more self efficient than we are today. Thank God for modern day inventions!

The start of a new sprinkler system

The girls sitting in the dirt(imagine that!)
Elise before she gets covered in dirt from head to toe.
Jordis already has her shoes off because they kept filling with dirt and she got tired of dumping it out everytime she took a step.
Don't call child labor services on me, she did on her own free will. (It didn't last long though)
Ryan is running the ditch-witch while Duane nervously waits for an "explosion". You see, Ryan had me call Avista today to get all the electric and water lines drawn out so he wouldn't hit any. Well I did that but they won't have the results until Wed morning and he wanted to get it done tonight, so he did it anyway. I prayed the whole time he was out there that he wouldn't hit anything. Duane was so nervous that when I brought them some water I scared the crap out of him when I said his name. Evidently he was doing a little praying himself:) The front yard has all the pipes ran and hooked together already. He still has to run a line to my garden and hook up the back yard. Hopefully he will get it done in the next few days since he thinks we're going camping this weekend. I do have to say that Ryan is getting alot done this year. We weren't going to do the back yard but he decided to just do it and get it done. With everything he have purchased at home depote, we still have saved over $400 from what it would have cost to have a pro to do just the front yard. It really saves us alot of money doing it ourselves but it's alot more work(for Ryan anyways!)

The best Mothers day!

So here's the run-down on my great Mother's Day..... This morning Ryan got the girls up and then they came and layed in bed with me while he went to the store to get stuff for breakfast. My mom and sister came over for some french toast, bacon, sausage, eggs, and potatoes. The best part was that I didn't have to do a thing. Oh, and I also got a coffee and a dozen roses with a card. I then planted some flowers my neighbors gave me and checked on my garden. I now have little carrot tops poking out of the ground and little leaves from my cucumber plants showing. Then mom, Christel and I were off to see Made of Honor, it is a must see! Afterwards we headed to Home Depot to look at some plants for mom and I priced some bathroom fixtures for when we start that project. In the meantime Ryan has tilled, raked, and leveled off the front yard so we are just waiting for his friend Kevin to come over to start the sprinkler system. He also did a couple things on his "honey-do" list that have been there for quit awhile. We then finished off the evening with take out from my newest favorite place-Panda Express. The only thing that could make this day any better is if I had a maid to clean my house so I could wake up in the morning and not have to do it. Oh well, it can wait until tomorrow. I hope all the other moms that read this had as good of a day as me, Happy Mother's Day!!!

Spring, finally!

The girls are "flying" on thier swings.
My first strawberry, I have 14 more that are still green!!
The girls finally figured out how to make their jeep go and aren't scared when it starts to move.
With this nice weather that we have been having the girls and I are able to go outside more and play. Elise thinks everytime we go outside that she has to water my flowers(that's what she calls the stawberries and tomatoes). Jordis has started swinging on her belly like Elise which is nice for me because I would have to stand their and push her for up to half an hour. I'm still waiting on my front yard being started for the sprinkler system. Right now it looks like an abandoned house with all the weeds growing. Maybe that will be my mothers day gift:)

Mothers Day a week early

This weekend was our mothers day with my mom and family. My sister Christel, brother Bob and his family, brother Ron, neice Jessi, and the four of us went to our moms house on Saturday night to play a little Wii. We all challenged each other at Guitar Hero, bowling, boxing and a little cow racing. The boxing was quit entertaining as you can see in the pictures on my slide show. Then Sunday morning we went to the annual mother/daughter breakfast at the Ferdinand Hall. In the last 2 years we went from having a table of 6 to a table of 12 with all the new neices. The men cook breakfast for all the women, it's quit nice, plus they give prizes away at the end. Then the whole purpose of the weekend began... We did all of mom's spring yard work-burned fence lines, picked weeds, moved river rock, etc. It was a really nice weekend being with all the family.
