"Dog" Days of Summer

Monday I took the girls and my neice Jessi to the Asotin Aquatic Center for a trial run to see if the girls will actually get in the water. Jessi is having her birthday at the Aquatic Center on Sunday and I want to take the girls, last year they weren't too fond of the water. We went to the little toddler section to get them used to the water. It took Jordis about 20 minutes before she ventured into the water and Elise took 45 minutes. But after they got into the water and realized it was fun they didn't want to get out. Elise kept saying she wanted to go down the slide but she isn't tall enough so she had to settle for watching Jessi come out the bottom. They should be ready to go to the birthday party sunday with no problem.

We have a new addition to our family, Hurly. Ryan's sister Chelsea had a dog but was unable to have it at her apartment here in Lewiston so Ryan said we would take it since the girls are such dog lovers. She is part weiner dog, part pekaneese. (sp?) She was born last Sept, but is very mellow. She likes to just lay around which is perfect because Jordis always wants her to sit in her lap. It will be nice because Chelsea can take her when we are out of town for the weekend so we won't have to worry about her, then Chelsea still gets to spend time with her. Here are a couple pictures from this week.

Here Fishy, fishy

Yesterday the Leiterman family and our family went out to Mann's Lake to do a little fishing. Ryan bought the girls each their own Dora fishing pole and they caught on really fast on how to use it. At first we were fishing from the bank but there were too many weeds so we moved to the dock, hoping that the girls wouldn't fall off into the water. All the girls wanted to do was cast and then reel in the line, they didn't want to wait for a bite to reel it in. Elise actually had a fish on 2 times but we didn't get the hook set in time to actually catch it. After we were done fishing we went to Cori and Duane's to have a BBQ and play a couple games of 31. The girls don't understand when they go to Cori's why there aren't any kids there like when they used to go there for daycare.

This morning the girls were finally able to give Ryan the boxes that they painted and glued buttons onto for his Father's Day gifts. I put Swedish fish in the boxes since they are Ryan's favorite candy so when the girls saw them they wanted to eat them. We're just relaxing today since we have very few weekends during the summer that we have nothing to do.

Bed time pals

Every night we have to make sure the girls have ALL of their animals that they sleep with. If we happen to miss one they let us know by yelling it over and over after we have turned off the light. In Jordis' bed there is : 2 pigs, 1 sheep, 2 dogs, her blanket, a book and sometimes a baby. In Elise's bed there is: 2 pigs, 1 dog, 1 sheep, her blanket, a book and most times a baby. As you can tell they still have thier binkies at night but I have started telling them that when Aunt Christel's baby comes we have to give their binkies to her since she won't have any. Some times it is ok with them other times they start to cry. They will probably not like the baby at first for taking their binkies. I was going to try the binkie fairy idea like Jamie but I don't think they would get the concept at this age.

For any one that has driven by our house you will notice that we finally have our yard hydroseeded. YEAH!!!!!! Ryan has the sprinklers all hooked up and set the timers tonight so hopefully in the next couple of weeks we will have green grass instead of dirt in our front yard. No the only project left for the year is to finish Ryan's room again after the flood. Luckily all that was damaged was the floor in his room so once that is in and the trim is up we can put all of his stuff back and maybe use the basement for something other than storage. I want to thank eveyone that has helped us this year with all that we have done with the house, we really appreciate it.

Everything comes in 3's!!

Why does it seem that when bad stuff happens it comes in 3's? Hopefully we are done now that we have had 3 bad things happen to us. To start, Ryan was passed up yet again for a driving position with Pepsi so he is really trying to find a new job. His moody behavior because of not liking his job mixed with me telling him no over and over again about jobs that won't work for our family and our budget, does not make a good combination. Then on Memorial day I fell carrying Jordis down the stairs at my moms house which hyperextended my back. I couldn't move at all for about 5 minutes and then got better as time went on. Now today I was woken up at 6:30 am by a loud popping noise so I looked outside thinking the air conditioner was broke or someone had turned the sprinkler system on. It wasn't until I went down stairs and stepped into warm water that I realized that my hot water tank was gushing water. So luckily I knew where the water shut off valve was and was able to keep the water damage to a minimum. Ryan came home(hopefully he won't lose his job over this) and started vacuming up all the water. AFter talking to the insurance and getting that squared away we started taking up the flooring in Ryan's room that he just finished putting in last month. He had 4 pieces of trim to put in the room and then it would have been done. Hopefully our luck will turn around or I'll have to be admitted to the 5th floor:)
